Welcome to ChatBox!

This mod is highly configurable, and has many options, as I have merged the functionality of many other chat mods into this one. (For credits, see the source). This was a result of me being sick and tired of the bugginess/incapabilities of other chat mods...


What this does??

· Allows for the mouse wheel to scroll
shift wheel : jump to top/bottom
ctrl wheel : scroll 3 lines at a time

· Relocated 'Jump to bottom' button to be inside the chat frame, and it only appears when you are scrolling.

· Minimum interface clutter.

· Enchantment spam is parsed and removed from the chat frame, and placed into it's own box with a hyperlink to click on it. (and it looks cool now too!) (CTRL-click for original text message)

· Guild recruitment spam is parsed and removed from the chat frame, and placed into it's own box with a hyperlink to click on it. (and it looks cool now too!) (CTRL-click for original text message)

· The default chat behavior of people is changed.

For example, when you are at the bank in Orgrimmar, and want to open your bank, you have to click on the dude, then select View bank. This mod bypasses this behavior so that it skips directly to the bank. (If you hold the CTRL button down and click, it will show the original behavior of NPC's)

· It also changes the whisper chatline to make more sense:

· You can display links by mouseover, instead of by clicking! (must hold the shift, alt, or ctrl key down for it to work.)

· It also removes the party, yell, and guild words from the chat line. The color of the text should be obvious enough.

· It also can truncate the length of channel names. (i.e. if channel 6 is [6 - superlongchannelname] it will become [6 - superlong], or just [6]. You decide!

· It also makes the Channel messages and Guild Officer messages 'sticky', so you don't have to keep on typing: '/1 blah blah' etc.. You just press enter to reopen the last chat comm. channel you had last.

· It also can add timestamps (and change the format and color and which frames it will do it on too!)

· It can also shorten the LookingForGroup channel to just LFG.

· You can now use the arrow keys to navigate chat edit box!

· You can now place the chat edit box at the top of the scroll frame.

· You can now show/hide the emote/language/menu button.

· you can now bind a key to open up a whisper to your target.

· you can now create links into macros!! shift click the item from chat while the macro frame is open (and a macro is selected...) to put a link into it.

· you can also create links into private channels! (others must have this mod for those links to work)

· you can now choose what side the buttons will appear on (if they are on the left, they will be on the outside of the frame.)

· Player Link Menu is now integrated with ChatBox. (/plm to turn on)
This adds new options when you right-click on someone's else's name in chat. (it is off by default) note this only works with right-click, and only works on other people (not you...)

· you can also bind key modifiers (shift/alt/crl) to the left-clicker so when you left-click on a name, that action
will be performed. (who, target, whisper, invite, ignore)

· you can now use /tt for TellTarget (also keybindings for these too!)

· you can now clear the chat frame of all text!

· URL copy! - put URLs into a clickable link, to open a box so that you can copy from it into your browser.

· chuck norris spam nuker. Man that crap is annoying!

· you can now have names colored (based on their class... or randomly based on a hash value generated from their name! It's cool!

Slash Commands...

ChatBox --- /chatbox or /cb
sticky - change the default sticky behavior
shortLFG - change the LookingForGroup channel tag to LFG
short - shorten [P]arty, [G]uild, [O]fficer, [R]aid, Raid Leader ([RL])
hideBottomButton - hide/show the scroll-to-bottom button
useArrows - allows you to use the arrow keys in the chat edit box...
throttle - change the number of words that must match for the enchant nuker to nuke (default is 10 words)
guild throttle - change the number of words that must match for the guild nuker to nuke (default is 20 words)
hideGossip - show/hide the gossip frame when there are more important things at the NPC
editAtTop - place the edit box at the top of the scroll frame.
hideEmoteButton - show/hide the emote/menu button.
menuOnLeft - Place the buttons on the left side of the frame.
colorNames - Do you want the names in chat colored?
colorRandom - Do you want the names in chat randomly colored? (only if their class is unknown)
longStrings - show [Party][Raid][Guild][Officer] in chat.
truncLength - change the length of channel names in chat.
clink - allow you to link items (as links) into custom chat channels.(others must have this mod to see them.)
chuckNorris - allow you to nuke Chuck Norris spam.


ShortCuts: sti, lfg, bot, thr, gos, use, edit, emo, left, name, rand, long, trunc, clink, norris.


TimeStamp --- /timestamp or /ts
on/off ZZZ : where ZZZ is the channel you want on or off.
color [off] : Opens up a color picker to choose the color for the timestamp.
[off] is optional, and if provided, will remove the custom color.
format [%H:%M:%S] : %H: 24-hour %I: 12-hour %M: minute %S: second %p: AM/PM
reset : reset the timestamps to their defaults.

Player Link Menu --- /playerlinkmenu or /plm
on/off : Turn the custom PLM on or off (right click to access it)
AAAA BBBB :
where AAAA is the key you want to assign (alt, shift, ctrl)
and BBBB is the function (who, target, whisper, invite, ignore). BBBB must be typed exactly from one of those functions. If BBBB is not specified, then that key modifier will be disabled.

System Event Sound Menu --- /chatboxsounds or /cbs
on/off : on/off to toggle chatbox sounds.

1-5 are valid options, 0 disables the sound.

Solution for now? Do not have these other mods - or petition their authors to fix their SetItemRef() function hook to pass 3 arguments. Any mod that uses SetItemRef() and does not pass 3 arguments (blizz changed this from 1 to 3 in 1.8) will break ChatBox.

Q: I cant untrain my skills, or the chat behavior at NPC is weird!!!
A: Press CTRL when clicking on them, or type /cb hideGossip

Q: Why dont the chat authors have colored names? or The colored names in chat arent working!!
A: That is because that person talking must have been in your party or raid (or guild, friend list, or had a /who performed on them) first, or spoken in the respective channels at least once (for party and raid chat).

Q: I want XXX features.
A: If you can find another mod that has the requested feature, and post it here, I will see what I can do. But, as I am a player as well, it is not guaranteed.

Q: I can not find Chatbox in the Addons screen!
A: It is at the very bottom. And ... in color too!
