ATSW is a complete replacement for Blizzards tradeskill window with more overview and special functions.
This replacement (works for all tradeskills, now even enchanting!) provides you with:
- a better overview
The ATSW is bigger than the standard window, resulting in a much better overview over the thousands of items you can produce. Additionally, it lets you sort your recipes either by groups (as in the standard window), alphabetically or by difficulty. Alternatively, ATSW even lets you create your own groups and sort the recipes the way you like!
ATSW also has a filter function: enter something into the filter line and ATSW hides all recipes that don't contain the text you entered. But this filter function can do more: it's a powerful search function that can filter for minimum/maximum level requirements, producable item counts, item rarity (color) and reagents necessary. Check out the readme for details on using this function!
- more comfort
The ATSW has a production queue: you can queue several different items and have them all produced (due to Blizzard restrictions, you have to click a button whenever a new item is to be produced).
The ATSW is able to consider items you have to produce in order to use them as reagents in the production of other items. So: if you need item A to produce item B, you don't have to manually produce first item A, then item B. The ATSW does that for you: you just tell it to produce item B and it automatically queues the production of item A and - afterwards - item B. If you are missing some reagents to produce both items you get a message telling you exactly which reagents you need.
ATSW helps you telling your friends what reagents you need for a specific item: just click on a recipe with your shift-key pressed and the chat line opened and the reagent info will be added to the chat line.
ATSW shows you what reagents you need to process the whole production queue. It even tells you how many of each reagent you have in your bank, on alternative characters on the same server (in this case, it can even tell you on which characters) and which reagents are buyable from merchants. In case of buyable reagents ATSW can automatically buy all missing and available items from a merchant when you are speaking to him.
ATSW explicitly supports ArmorCraft, LS3D craft info and Fizzwidgets ReagentCost. Other addons that change the original tradeskill window will probably not work with ATSW. However, you can enable or disable ATSW for certain skills permanently (take a look at the readme for details) or use the SHIFT key when opening the trade skill window to show the original window if ATSW is enabled.
Please note that ATSW has grown to be quite a complex addon and it might still contain some bugs. Please tell me if you encounter one so I can fix them.
TO ALL OF YOU WHO BOOKMARKED THIS ADDON: It mysteriously disappeared from this site and I had to resubmit it, so you'll have to add it to your favourites again.

Patch notes for Advanced Trade Skill Window
v0.7.6:
- changed: toc version number updated for patch 3.2
v0.7.7:
- fixed: fixed a bug which caused ATSW to block if multiple items are to be created in a row
- fixed: if you require an anvil or an additional reagent (or something else) to create a recipe, the corresponding queue entry should not be deleted anymore
- added: a new checkbox which allows direct filtering of the recipe list for recipes which you can create with available materials (similar, but not entirely identical to the checkbox in the standard tradeskill window - the ATSW box considers items in your bank, on alts or buyable stuff too, if you want)

Anyway you can readd the auto buy reagents from the vendor? Having to open up the vendor window, open up the ATSW and hit reagents and then buy from vendor is a pain in the necks.
Thanks.
Thanks.

hey gamingJournay. With that malware that you added to wowmatrix you posted, you'll need my authenticator number also. It's 389294. good luck. (lol)
The best way to assure no bugs with a new version is to delete your old .lua file and the old addon directory for the given addon. Works like a charm. Wowmatrix is a logger don't use it.
@ all: please just ignore what GamingJournay posted :-(

But Slartie really, it would be nice if you could find the time to fix the bugs which prevents it from finding the items needed to construct a lot of items :-/

I don't like Wow's window either but until this is fixed or someone comes out with another one we are stuck with it. I don't think this one is going to be updated - maybe I will have another look at Cauldron again.
It's not just inscription. It's frozen and shutdown WoW for me with different profs and characters. The only addon that's doing it, didn't have a choice but disable. I hate the wow profs window.
my game freezes everytime i discover something with northrend research with my alchemy and with inscription. But when im making other thing that dont happen at all.
It isn't just inscriptions that have lag and makes my framerate bottom out, my alchemist and jewelcrafter too. I also wondered why in the filter it doesn't search for recipes based on herbs. If I put in goldclover nothing comes back. I tried another tradeskill addon before and the same thing happened. I absolutely loved being able to sort them how I wanted them but I too will wait to see if the problems are corrected.
Yeah, thanks for updating, even if it can't figure out half the recipes *g*
468 days ago
I don't think it's just a large list that slows it down, but specifically inscription, similar to the way enchanting used to slow down. I have 253 item on my inscription list and it still cause lots of lag and even lowers my frame rate(???). But on my LW (different toon, all the same mods), I have 370 some items, and it flies thru anything I do there just fine (along with all the other professions - I have toons with everything but Blacksmithing). So there is something specific about inscription that's cause the lag. Thanks for updating!

I'm glad you haven't quite left yet :) But there are some odd bugs in this... say i want to do Northrend Inscription Research, your addon tells me i don't have any "Ink of the Sea" - but I can make enough Inks of the sea from the pigments i have in my bag - shouldn't it know that?
Please please please please update this!!! I had to shut it off completely on my inscribers. Often my enchanters experience a disappearance of known enchants from the list. Needs updating B A D L Y....
thanks :D

I was able to fix mine lock up problem by deleteing the AdvancedTradeSkill Window.lua from C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\[YourAccount]\SavedVariables and from C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\[YourAccount]\[YourRealm]\[YourCharacter]\SavedVariables folder. (I did this one for each toon)
Also, I deleted the AdvancedTradeSkill folder from the Addons folder in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons. Then I re-installed it, went back on WoW and went in toeach toon and let it re-scan. I have not had a lock-up since.
Give that a try, hope it works for all! :)

@ Slartie: Will you update ATSW soon?

Yeah, whenever I open a trade skill now it locks my whole computer up completely. Please update to fix this.

Request: Can you add an option to include items in the guild bank? My guild bank is set up as communal mats for crafting.
I don't have any problems aside from the MAJOR memory hog issue. With Inscription 430+, i have hundreds of recipes. If ALL of them are listed (none filtered). It will take about 30 seconds to respond after any create. HOWEVER, if before I do the create, I filter the recipes to show one or none (i.e. search for "aksjdfhaksf") response time is only about 1 sec behind normal.

any chance of update?i suffer from same ATSW problems as ppl below-even tried to send PM ,but it says his mailbox is full and you cant send him PM until he clear his storage which doesnt give me much confidence

Hojiman... I have seen the same issue. And it was an issue before so hopefully they can fix it again. My other issue is that when someone links their profession is always comes up with the ATSW window. I wish there was a way to shift click the link or a button on the ASTW to bring up the default crafting window. Or better yet, add the search function based at attribute. While I am on that subject, it would be nice for Inscription if you could have a filter for Minors and/or Majors. Thanks, Roweboy

Since the 3.0.8 patch, discovering a new recipe while the window is open (as if there were another way for it to happen?) sends the mod into a loop, memory use skyrockets, the UI becomes non-responsive and then the client locks up within several seconds. If I learn a new recipe/pattern/etc while the window is closed, and then open it afterwards, the UI is slow for just a few seconds but then behaves normally. This happens on every toon with most professions (so far LW, Enchanting, Inscription, Alchemy and Tailoring) and regardless of location (Org, UC, Shat, Lagaran, etc). I have disabled the only other two craft/recipe related mods and the results are the same.
Anyone else seen anything similar?

If I have a completed quest, and zone in any way, the completed quest sound/info fires again. This will happen whenever I zone. This only occurs if I have a completed quest sitting in my list, that I have not turned in yet.

Dunno if this will help, but I noticed on opening the default Blizzard skill frame, available skills are duly listed, then the cursor skips to the BOTTOM of the frame, highlighting the bottom-most skill. This may explain the strange skill skipping by ATSW presently. Also enchanting frame needs to be fixed so it doesn't show "create" but does allow an enchant to be highlighted and then "enchanted". DK frame is a complete mess, without any ability to "engrave" a rune onto weaps.
Dunno what Blizz did to break this addon, but sadly, I have had to disable it altogether. I hope you have time to fix it, because at least for my engineers, this addon is absolutely invaluable.
Cheers!

Same problems here with 0.72. Finally had to just uninstall the addon until these issues can be fixed. Sad because it's one of my favorites.

When it comes to enchanting, this mod needs some help. It will not forget the queue. It queues things from 4 days ago when you try to do an enchant for someone.
No matter how many times you "empty" or "process" the queue, they come back from the dead should you have mats.
This was hilarious fun when I was trying to make my small prismatics into large prismatics. The mod didn't recognize that I had the mats and anytime I wanted to make another LPS, it would turn the LPS back into a Small Prismatic Shard.
It's also ungodly laggy when doing enchants. I don't know what it's doing as it's not throwing errors, but if it's not patched soon, I'll have to uninstall it.

I'm having the exact same problem, when opening ATSW the list doesn't show all items, if u choose a different view, eg Alphabetical order then back to the original choice the list usually reverts to the full list but u have to do this every single time u open the window.

New problem as of WOLTK 3.03 -- When I open ATSW it briefly shows all my recipes in the given prof, then shrinks to one category. On my DK I was unable altogether to forge runes. I had to disable the mod till it's fixed. Just to make sure it was ATSW I disabled all other mods and tried it, but it was in fact, ATSW. Hope for a fix soon! Thanks

Find instances of ATSW_GetTradeSkillReagentItemLink and change to GetTradeSkillReagentItemLink and ATSW_GetTradeSkillItemLink to GetTradeSkillItemLink. This fixes the immediate errors and allows you to link items and reagents from the ATSW window.

I still cannot link items from the ATSW. I can link the recipe but not the actual item it will produce.

Slartie thanks again for keeping this mod topped off and spot on, as it were. This is and always has been one of those mods that force me to wonder why Blizzard doesn't just adopt as the default. Phenomenal improvement, imo. =)

I am sorry that it has taken so long for the mod to be fixed, I just had to find some time first which was a scarce resource lately for me. I have now fixed those bugs that prevented item linking and the scrollbar issues on the custom sorting screen in v0.7.2

Edit window scroll bug.
Easy to fix.
Edit the atsw_customsorting.xml file.
line numbers 350 and 371, need to add the - self, offset, -
from
FauxScrollFrame_OnVerticalScroll(16, ATSWCS_Update);
to
FauxScrollFrame_OnVerticalScroll(self, offset, 16, ATSWCS_Update);
As for the linking error, no idea. I just use the recipe link instead.
Hope this helps.

BUG: There is still bug in the edit window: When I touch the scroll bar (to slide new items into view) it produces an error: attempt to index 'self' a number value)
Comment:
When you auto grab a lot of items from the bank and it fills up the bag, you don't continue to the next bag but wow displays the "that bag is full" message instead :)

The Craft functions no longer exist, but they still sit in uncommented portions of the mod. Below are three examples of GetCraft functions that would throw errors if the code is executed (it is reachable as I've gotten errors on these lines)
bolt@ASYLUM /cygdrive/e/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons
$ grep GetCraft */*.lua | grep -v "\-\-"
AdvancedTradeSkillWindow/atsw.lua: if(CraftFrame and CraftFrame:IsVisible() and ATSW_IsCurrentlyEnabled() and GetCraftDisplaySkillLine()) then
AdvancedTradeSkillWindow/atsw.lua: DoCraft(GetCraftSelectionIndex());

@ThorsLiebling: I'm also playing the german version and just skilled a profession (Alchemy) without the problems described by you. What did you try to skill and to what type of vendor did you go?

@ Slartie:
I'm using the German client and I tried out the latest version of ATSW.
1.) Still ATSW seems to be broken. For instance I do not bye the reagents I need at the vendor automatically. Also there is no button for buying the missing reagents when opening a vendor's window.
2.) When having a queue, I am not able to produce anything by clicking the button. Instead the number of queued products is being raised by one everytime I hit the button.
Greetings :)

I updated my ATSW today but I'm still unable to link recipes or mats into chat. Also I can make new categories but the scroll bar on the custom categories window does not do anything. So I can't see any categories that extend beyond the main window. I'm not getting any errors.

Again thanks for the update, the errors are gone and sorting works now.
For those using AckisRecipeList, just edit lines 354 and 1657 of ARLFRame.lua in AckisRecipeList, delete the "and not CraftIsPetTraining()".
This is not necessary anymore as pet training is completely removed with the patch and replaced with a talent point interface for hunter's pets.

I have just posted an update here, fixing the reported bugs in v0.7.0
@jaim sandar: I have looked at Ackis Recipe List, and the issue actually isn't related to ATSW, but to Ackis Recipe List trying to call an API function that doesn't exist anymore since Blizzard has removed it from the API. It does this if either ATSW or Fizzwidgets Hunter Helper is installed, that is why you don't get the error if ATSW is deactivated. So the bug has to be fixed by the author of Ackis Recipe List.

Ackis Recipe List used to work with ATSW, but it doesn't with v0.7.0. I hope that can be remedied because I would hate to give up either of these fine AddOns.
Edit:
I made the changes to ARLFrame.lua described by Cartman, now ARL & ATSW work together again! Thank you!

How do you add something to the custom edits? It seems to have changed with this version?
Sort by difficulty doesn't seem to work either, it just shows a blank window?

I'm getting the same errors as Cartman. I can't modify any of the custom categories nor can I make new categories. The old ones are still there that I made pre-patch, but I can't sort any new recipes into them.

Hehe, silly site, it mailed before you had finished uploading it. But its great you have updated it Slartie! Thanks for that. This addon is wonderful.

Does it support Inscription? That's not included in the changelog...

Well, I'm trying to upload a fully 3.0 compatible version of ATSW to the site, but for some reason it takes ages to upload - hope to have it online soon.

Thanks for an awsome mod!
Could it be possible to sort the entries based on the quality of the item produced?
I would like to remember which items are epic, blue, etc.
An alternative is to allow a priority flag for the user to mark their item.
Finally, I don't know if it is under your auspices, and if you have an idea on how to do it it would be awsome, but I would really like to know whether it is worth while to keep a certain item around. So, do you know of of a way to click on an item and see which recipes it is useful for and whether i have them or not?

I keep reading the part in the patch notes that "the reagent whisper function will now work correctly with WIM" but I can't figure out how to use this. Is it specific to WIM only or is there a command to whisper the reagent list to someone?

tbh i have tried Skillet and i found skillet to be a huge memory hog but that was a while ago and atm ATSW works great for me.
As I mentioned on the Curse link to this mod, I love this addon, but also had memory issues and when I opened the cooking screen after the latest patch, it would lock up.
Anyone interested in a replacement should look at Skillet, an ACE2 addon - the author gives full credit to ATSW and its author on the wiki page as he based Skillet on ATSW. Similar and expanded functionality to ATSW, with some new features added. Run it with CharacterInfoStorage to keep track of materials on all your alts.
Oh - lothaer - the option you're after is included in Skillet - just tick a check box. :)
Sorry to be leaving ATSW behind, as it is one of my favourite addons. However, I've had no lockups or memory issues since changing to Skillet. Thanks to Slartie for a great addon, and if it's updated to fix bugs and issues, then I'll probably move back.

You can already limit the listing to things you can craft with mats on hand.
Typing (without quotes obviously) ":minpossible 1" in the filter window will show only what you can make at least one of RIGHT NOW and typing ":minpossibletotal 1" will show what's possible according to the options you've selected on the Options page (i.e. alts, bank, buyable, etc). NOTE: don't forget that filters start with a colon ":" or you'll get nothing at all.
This functionality and much more are detailed in the README file in the MOD's interface/addons/ folder.
Now, I obviously would like a simple, easily clickable check-box option for this so I'll poke around and see if there's something simple since all that would be needed is to enable/disable an already existing feature but this mod is exceedingly complicated so don't anyone hold their breath. lol
Peace.

Ok so this is a GREAT mod and I know a lot of ppl is using it, so I have a feature request to make, well maybe it should be a completely new mod or a plug in for this one but anyway I'm gonna propose it anyway... :)
Wouldn't it be great if you could make something like a «selling list»?! You would have a special tab were you could put the items you have for sale (or the items you are able to craft with your mats) and everyone in your guild (or everyone in the server -configurable option- ) that uses this mod would see the items you have to sell, in an auction house kinda think, and if someone wanted something they would order it... Wen someone ordered some of your stuff you would get a notice and then all you have to do is craft and deliver it..
Ok I know this may be a bit complicated and allot of ppl may not want this, but I also know that sometimes you cant find that enchanter or JC you need on trade channel, or that item for your twink or that leg enchant on the AH so this would be a good place to look for ppl that actually want to sell stuff from their professions without gambling on the AH (even wen you sell the item for your price AH will allways have a cut, bastards! :P ) or that are online but are not on a major city.
Well maybe I'm asking for too much, but with wotlk and its professions changes coming I think many ppl would start looking for a mod like this..

Following the most recent patch, ATSW crashes while scanning cooking recipies. Is there ANY WAY to disable the "scan" feature? It's a nuisance and a frequent cause of severe hangups and/or delays. I had to disable the mod altogether for now. Oh and I tried it on two different computers and had the same result.
WTB option "only show craftable items"... ie only show things that i have the mats for.
I like that :)
any small prismatics or void crystals? atsw will consider the craftability of reagents when reporting how many items can be crafted.
Great addon! One thing I am having trouble with is: major spellpower weapon enchant (8 large prismatic shards + 10 greater planar essence) ATSW shows that I can do one of these, but I only have 6 large prismatic shards in my inventory/bank (shows up as 1/1, so it sees all the necessary materials in my bags).I deleted old data files and customized categories , and tried a fresh copy of ATSW - still the same issue.Any ideas? Thanks.

this addon is currently broken, any chance of getting it fixed?
There is one thing I find lacking for this add on. In the blizz interface you are able to click a nice little button so the only thing you see is the things you have the mats for. Do you havee this and its just not seen? or is there a way to do this? If not you should consider adding it. Its ahrd scrolling through all my items as a JC to find the one i'm looking for when i know I have the mats.
