This addon was written by Viper (http://www.viper.dk/WoW/) and published on WoWUI by the user Ryiort. I'm only keeping it alive.

This add-on allows you to open up a menu when clicking on a players name in chat. This will give you some basic options, for fast and easy access. So no more having to write when wanting to invite a player you're talking to or if you want to ignore that player.

It also extends the options available when clicking on a name. You can choose what actions should be performed when doing a normal click or while holding down Shift, Ctrl or Alt. It is all configurable from inside the game. Type /plm to view the options screen.

This add-on was developed before Blizzard added the same functionality to the defaul UI. However using PLM gives you a few more options to customize the menu and click behaviours to your liking.

Patch notes for Player Link Menu v1.7.1
Version 1.7.1
- Update TOC file to 3.1.

Version 1.7
- Updates for WotLK.

Version 1.6.5
- Fixed social frame being shown when activating the PLM menu after having been in the guild part of the social frame.

Version 1.6.4
- Minor correction to compatability fix, making it a bit better. One thing to note about this fix is that if you set a click behaviour to 'Disabled' in the menu, the original action will now be executed as it should.

Version 1.6.3
- Added a 'Copy name' feature. Will copy the name to the text cursor position or open a new chat editbox if one isn't already open.

[color2]Version 1.6.2[/color]
- Now has the 'Report Spam' feature.
- Fixed the 'Guild Invite' not properly being updated unless you had been in the guild frame.
- Hopefully fixed some compatability issues with other add-ons by allowing more stuff to get through if PLM doesn't execute anything.

Version 1.6.1
- Fixed names having a number attached when trying to whisper them.

I have an update for this addon which I just sent to Ryiort, along with the offer to adopt the addon if he doesn't wish to maintain it any more.

A true shame this mod is broken, now. This was the BEST player link menu mod to date. The one from curse, while partially working, is still full of errors and nowhere near the level of options this mod supported. I would love for someone to finally take this mod under their wing and fix the problems.

I also used this addon, but it does not seem to work anymore. I found a replacement in PlayerMenu. That one still seems to work http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/player-menu.aspx

No longer working under 3.0.2, great shame as there are no other mods currently available to replace this one!

Is this great mod still being maintained?

Any progress with including the /target function, again?

Yes, it takes control of the guild update function (needed to make the guild invite option work properly). It should however not matter since it can still be called normally and without any problems. I just had to do it so I could pass along an argument to check if it had been run or not. I'll make it so if you remove the guild invite from the list, it won't overwrite the function. That way you'll have a choice.

This addon causes a taint with the social frame in patch 2.2.

That's on the list. It's just taking some time due to various things (time and energy to do it). I basically hate maintaining add-ons, especially with 5 more already in my head/in development :( But it's not forgotten, I just need to find the time to do it and hopefully I've found a way to bring the functionality back pretty much as it was before (being able to also activate the targeting without having to use the menu (directly clicking the name)). There's also the rewrite of this add-on somewhere in the future. Hope I can get to it fairly soon.

Nice addon! One thing I would love to see as an option - to select the player (if nearby) from the menu. Zanzer's Chat Target does this nicely.
