I knew it. When i walking around in SW, someone started trivia and spams the normal /say channel pretty much. It looks funny, but perhaps a bit spammy, and please do not in the busy places. That makes talking to another members with /say harder. There are enough calmy places, or empty inns (for example in Old City area) to hold trivia rounds. You do only do /yell COME TO INN FOR TRIVIA Thank you very much.

Hi folks, I've been spending the last few days working on TriviaBot and trying to help make it better. It's not completely done yet (read below), but if you want to download my version, and try it out, it's here: http://www.zaubereiacademy.com/TriviaBot.zip Here's what I've done with it: - The commands "/trivia qlist wow" and "/trivia qlist normal" now work as documented instead of causing an error. - The list of question sets now only has two options -- "Normal" and "WoW" (instead of "Question Set 1" to "Question Set 20"). - I rewrote the code that checks your answers. Put simply, I changed it so that there can be a (theoretically) unlimited number of correct answers. (The way the authors had it set up, there could be 8 correct answers, at most.) Normally, yes, there would only be one correct answer to a question, until you get to a question such as "how many planets are there in the solar system?" Is the answer "nine" or "9" (or "8" if you're one of THOSE people)? Now there's an avenue to say that "nine", "9", "IX", "8", "eight", "VIII", "zero", "36,400", and "infinity" are all correct answers. - I've been going through the general knowledge questions and trying to clean up as many questions as I can, as well as provide extra possible correct answers where appropriate. This is going to take me a while, and I'm not finished yet, although I've made it through the first 1,000 questions (there's about 5,500 in all). As an example of things I've been doing, I've been setting it up so that when an answer to a question is 23, then "twenty three", "twenty-three", and "23" are all acceptable. Or, in the case of people, making just the last name an acceptable answer as well (such as "Garland" when the answer is "Judy Garland"). I've also been removing some questions which made no sense whatsoever or would be impossible to answer correctly (for example, one question is "implants", and the answer is "breast implants"). TO THE AUTHORS: I'd like you to know that I'm not doing this as a way to insult the work you've done, but rather to help you improve upon it. Hi, I love the idea and it's right up my guild's alley... Theres just the issue of changing question sets or even from normal rotation of questions to just WoW ones. When I give the '/trivia qlist wow' command, I get the lua error: "Interface\AddOns\TriviaBot\TriviaBot.lua: 241: attempt to call global 'Trivia_QlistSelect' (a nil value)" When changing question sets: "Interface\Addons\TriviaBot\TriviaBot.lua: 1042: bad arguement #1 to 'gmatch' (string expected, got nil)" I do apologize if the problem has been brought up before, but it seems to render the functionality of the addon as limited when members only want a certain type of question to be ran... All else, there's a +fave here.

I can't get it to run in-game triviabot program at all. am i dumb to try using this after i have no trouble with adding other addons that i have downloaded over +20 Addons...

Weird thing, i downloaded like always extracted perfectly but when i'm ingame at carr. selection it doesn't appear in addons button? Any help with this?

I tried to Download "out of date" trivia bot but they all did the same thing. Why cant i extract the file?

Hello everybody, my name is Matt and i am the new owned of the Trivia bot, i have recently got a new computer... sorry for the wait ^^. i will get to releasing the new version shortly, new features will include: -easier word list creation (with a program that creates the correct format from an easier format, suck as "question*answer" -fixed known bugs -more question lists will be added, and easier support for updating more. these are still in progress, right now i have been busy with the holidays. if the file is corrupt, try another site such as curse.com, it should not download as corrupt, also make sure you have "load out of date addons" checked in wow. ill be back after the holidays. :)

Yea, tried downloading it, it said its corrupt. 1-click install said it could not extract the target mod.

New version. Fixed some questions, and added our new site for TriviaBot, here's the url http://triviabot.aleriya.com/index.php. Thanks to Alyria for making it. I'm going to stop working on TriviaBot now. After i've received enough errors on questions to form a new version i will, but i will not do anything else. TriviaBot needs a new author, its not me anymore, im just fixing questions whilst waiting for someone.

I am currently looking for a new owner of this addon. I dont have time for it anymore, and i dont know if i am going to play wow anymore. Anyway, i really dont have time anymore like i said, so i am looking for someone which can take care of this addon and perhaps even coding it further.

Hmm, i want to keep this addon fairly simple to be honest. Hall of Fame wont come, and i doubt teams will either, but i can consider it when i am going to upgrade this addon. I will make no promises though :/ And i am glad you like it. HF ingame :)

I was a huge fan of the original Trivia Bot on IRC and it's great that this mod has found it's way to World of Warcraft, where it has provided much entertainment for me and fellow guildies while farming, PvPing and doing monotonous stuff in WoW. While it might sound greedy, here are a few suggestions that would make this mod even more amazing, most of them leeched off the existing IRC Trivia Bots that are up and running. # More Question types such as Scramble and even Fastest Finger where whoever types the word given first wins. # Hall of Fame: Have allotted number of rounds a single person must win to "win" the entire set which gives him 1 win in the hall of fame. Make this accessible through commands like !trivia hof to see who the current leaders are. # Other commands such as !rank and !streak that will make the game more competitive, possibly a weekly/monthly/yearly Top 10. # TEAMS! Allow the creation of teams to spice things up. Apart from that, great addon, and WTB MORE QUESTIONS!

Jarik, you mean that when you are done with all the questions, you have the ability to reset the questions, so you can 'play' them again? /trivia reset in that case and i think /trivia score exists, just write it. :) After you have answered this i'll see what i can do

this is a great addon, guild has a lot of fun with it while farming rep and things. something that would be nice, is a "/trivia score" command to show the current leaderboard on command also, any advice on how to parse trivia data from another source into the correct format to replace the questions once we get through the current set, besides manual entry?

well, everyone in the channel you have choosed, Dracen. For example, if you are in a party, and the trivia channel is set to party, then when you start the addon, everyone in the party can answer.

I am finished with the questions now. It's roughly 1007 questions in total now. So, that is 'some' extra. :) What has been added, to name a few: - Northrend questions (a lot) - Naxxramas questions, as it will be a lvl80 dungeon in WOTLK - Quote questions, but only some few. At the moment there is only Naxx, BT, and Hyjal quote-questions - Guess the Zone's with northrend - Some new random questions - Fixed the spelling and how it looked on every question nearly. You will see a huge difrence, trust me. - 'In the upcomming patch' questions. Only around 11 though. - GUI! not a minimap button or anything like that though, mostly just a window which you can access by printing /trivia. This was not made by me, it was made by the former author. It was on the beta of TriviaBot. Expect this released around 18.00 tommorow. I just have to double-check all the questions, and make sure everything is alright. Sneak peak on one of the 'upgraded' questions: Guess the Zone: The zone contains the capital city of one of the Alliance races. The zone features no instances, but has a famous gnoll named.. Hogger! Nice! :) I am a bit worried about the channel changes (you cant write much). It's really no use to have in a channel like it is now. I can try to shorthen it. And i have changed a lot of questions, so its more answers. I have also changed the questions a bit, so its no spelling errors. If you see one after my release, just tell me. I think i will have fixed all questions by today, but i wont add the northrend questions untill im completly happy with how the questions is. Beside the northrend questions, i think i will add atleast 10 more "normal" wow questions. Expect the release on Monday, around midnight i belive. Have fun with the mod, and please give me feedback if something is wrong. :) EDIT: Just some news about the progress atm. It will take longer then i expect, so im not sure i can finish it by monday. But on wednessday it will be released no matter what. I can also say that i have fixed a LOT of spelling errors and made things clearer. I have also added the option to allow more acceptable answers. You will love this addon even more when its out. Especially with the new 220~ questions. :) I am quite ashamed by some of my previous questions.. they were written very badly, and some had the wrong answers (just some very few though, like 4).

Well now it seems to work. I dunno but it does. Just bugged I guess. No weird characters in the name. And there are a few answer that need to be Blade's Edge MountainS with an 's' :)

Thouse who are having trouble with the trivia, like Suic1d3, do you have weird characters in your username? or just normal letters? Today i will focus on fixing questions though. Like, adding more options that is correct to the questions, and fixing spelling errors/badly written questions.

When I do /trivia start, and am on WoW trivia and in Guild chat, and I answer the question, it does not say that I have the correct answer, it takes a few seconds, then goes right to the next question. If other people answer, then the mod acts as usual. Also, the standings dont show up, just the message, but no ranks.

Thanks. I fixed it aswell. I will post the new updated questions, including a lot of northrend ones around two weeks from this one. I'm not sure about the other things yet, i'm looking into it. But the northrend questions and the fixes will be comming first, then the LMS, etc if im up for it. EDIT: Changed date, its two weeks untill i will fix the questions and post the new northrend questions. Dont worry, i will make sure there is as few mistakes as possible :)

number of ground mounts has answers as "thirty" and "41" in the question list. Somewhere where people can submit their own questions would be cool

I noticed you mispelled the Maelstrom as 'Maelstorm' my group wasn't happy... I also believe the number of major cities is 9 not 8. Shattrath and all.
