ArkInventory (AI) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.
AI's display windows are built from 'virtual bars', you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes 'too many'.
AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

I'm probably stupid, but is there a way to get the currency tab (badges, cooking tokens, JC tokens, etc) to work w/ Ark's bags? There's a little check box to have those display on your backpack, but Ark seems to be ignoring it. Otherwise, fantastic addon.

An idea that I have been thinking about is to have this addon cooperate with outfitter ;)
Like one can have serten outfits fit into 1 "bag". Why? When running around with 2-3 different gear you will have a pain picking out the BoP loot that you get from taids/trash/grinds etc.

I LOVE the mod, but I've had one consistent problem: Even when I either create a new profile or if I COPY from a profile (rather than just selecting an already existing one) the original profile gets overwritten by the new one. In addition, sometimes - even if I haven't change anything in the profile section for several days - all of a sudden one or more of my characters bags will switch to a profile for another character. Is there a way to set separate profiles for each character and KEEP them separate, so I don't have to keep going back and resetting everything?

I would like to add my name to the list of others who would like to know exactly how we can remove old guild bank data? If I go to the Control/Guild Bank tab in the config window and uncheck Monitor and Save -- then log out of game completely and log in again, that guild data is still showing in my tooltips from a guild I no longer belong too.
I really don't want to delete all the Arkinventory WTF files and start setting up this addon all over again but it does me no good to see item counts from a guild I'm no longer in.

PS: If I recall, I think your older versions had a way to do that. It was a menu item we had to drill down too but once there we were able to purge data for any "alt" character. Even if I could purge all my data that'd be great, won't take long to log in my alts and rebuild the bag/bank data MINUS the guild bank.

EDIT:
Okay I found the "switch character" tab and from there you can find the delete ALL data or delete BAG data but it didn't work, I even tried exiting the game completely giving the game and addons a chance to write to the harddisk but when I logged in again and entered a link into chat window I still saw old guild bank data.
So that purge data option isn't working for me any.
...and I was THIS....close! doh!

Great Mod, never want to play again with out it. Have friends who've had a couple EXTREMELY irritating issues. One issue is AI showing their bags as "Offline", grayed out as has been mentioned happening to a couple others.
-edit Just learned how to read and checked FAQ. They needed to enable Bug fixes.
The other is an issue with the Guild Bank. My friends AI shows only 2 out of the 3 available bank tabs. He has full access in the guild and the button for the third tab shows the tabs name but the icon is that of an unpurchased tab and he is unable to open that tab. If he turns AI off he is able to open the tab AOK. He has tried both with and with out bug fixes enabled and still had no luck. Glad it works beautifully 99.9999999% for me anyway.

Is there a way to either A) not display guild bank totals when using the Item Counts function, or B) completely delete the guild bank data? I already have arkinventory set to not save guild bank data and not open when I go to the guild bank, but since it scanned the guild bank once, it still has that data

Is it possible to make it show our other Tokens ( when we go to the Currencty tab and click on any of the other forms of Currency stored there, Badges of Justice or Arathi Basin Marks of Honor etc, and we put a check by Show in Bag ) next to the Gold like it would if we did not have any bag addon ?

Is there any way to move bars up or down in the sense that I want all my quest items to be in a horizontal row above all the other items. I see it in alot of screenshots, but don't know if its still possible.

use the switch character (top left icon) to view other charcters data - you need to have logged into them and opened that location at least once for the name to show.
bars are horizontal, they cant do vertical
you can hide the empty categories, by assigning them to a bar then once assigned go back and select them and chose hide, note that if you hide all your empty slots you wont be able to split stacks (as you wont have anywhere to drop it)

I cannot figure out how to view my alts' gear. I can only see ways to delete their cache.
I also cannot figure out how to get the bars to be horizontal. Is there a way to make unused spots disappear?

Okay thjere is a big issue that I've found with this and it is really pissin me off..
Randomly when I log in I find that my bags become unusable. All the slots are black/grayed out and nothing can be used/moved/clicked on/anything. Yet my bank, and guild bank are fully fine. This is really becoming annoying. Even reloading my UI doesn't fix it.

I keep getting kicked out of the game when I try to use an item (or even hover over one) from my inventory while by bags are full. The only way I've found to fix the issue is to exit WoW and go back in, then I can use/hover over an item without crashing. Any ideas?

Two thing's I'd like to see with this.
One is an option for sorting gear sets. Like many some of my toons have gear sets for this and that, druid dps/tanking, priest healing/dps etc. To me it's convenient to carry it with me instead of leaving it at the bank. If someone calls out for a healer, a tank, dps, I rather say okay summun away instead of wait I need to get to the bank and switch gear. I've also made a booboo and DEed two peices of my priests healing set when stuff got mixed up. >.>;;; So, a gear set be nice to add to sorting.
Another be one for primals/motes. Right now there all mixed in with enchanting/alch and it's a little hard keeping track of them when there mixed in over here and over there.

Can you make this work with Item Age - the author has provided hooks/functions for easy integration. or incorporate the function into your mod? http://wowui.worldofwar.net/?p=mod&m=6568
Also, how about allowing option to hihglight unuseable items and recipies, etc red and useable ones green to differentiate them from each other along with from items that are not a use/not use item like a regent or vanity pet/mount etc.

While it is an essential feature, one that I love, that Ark Inv has an item count, would it be possible to disable it for alts? Also, in my tooltip it shows me item counts not only for an alt that I have deleted, but also for a Guild bank for a Guild I've already left. Maybe the solution lies in altering something in the Lua file for the item count feature, but I'd rather have someone far more qualified advise me on that. :) This is still an issue with the brand new latest version, by the way.
I just logged into another char, and I noticed that that char is in the Guild that shows up on my alts Item count. Not only that, they aren't even in the same faction! :O

I will have to look in game to make sure so I am going by memory here. Left Click on the icon on the top left of your bag/bank window and a menu should appear with an option for sort order. then pick the appropriate option and make sure to click to put a check mark by the ones u want active. (Sometimes on the guild bank u have to hit the refresh icon on the top right to get it to sort.

I LOVE this mod it makes managing my inventories/banks/etc much easier and I highly recommend this mod to everyone asking about inventory mods.I like the alpha sort idea that Darts001 suggested esp. for guild banks as many times I cannot find an item in the guild bank but i know it is there some where.
Also, I have a request I have tried using a mod called easy destroy along with another mod called drop junk. The drop junk mods still works flawlessly (it simply destroys all my gey items when I click the button that i have assigned to it's macro). However, the Easy destroy mod nolonger works - It makes it so that when you alt-shift-right click an item in bag then do same again within 20 seconds it will destroy that item without confirmation unless it is above a quality threshhold then it will confirm.I am constantly dropping greys or drinks or other non-wanted items and would be great to have a one or two click way of doing this
Is there a way to incorporate either or both of these mods functionallity into AI?

I love you mod and all the work you have put into. Is it possible to sort the virtual bags by alphabetical order? I have an "auction" character that goes through a bunch of stuff of day. I would be nice to see when I have duplicates. It would also make it easier to find things in general. Someone will ask me if I have an item, I'll "search" via ark and find out I have it on my "storage" character, then spend forever wondering where it is.

What Blizzard bug is that FrameLevel fix is supposed to fix? For me, it does not fix anything, just screws up things - or I just did not find it yet.
I edited my copy by commenting out the code in question, and I have not seen anything remotely wrong, only just positive stuff such as no lagspike at all, and finally the bag and bank frame stopped interfering. This fix frequently clipped the bank frame IN the bag frame and vica versa, meaning I saw the icons of the bag frame (and even able to pick the item up) even when the bank frame was on top.

I'm also getting the FrameLevel error as Kurg is getting. Only mine says bag window is currently at 170 something and is reset to 2. It also starts lagging everything really bad. It's not so much a 'lag spike' it's out right full out dropping to 0.3 fps the whole time the window is open and at times to the point of lagging out of game.

Hallo, sry for my bad english.I LOVE your addon, I created about 20 rules, and so on.But i have the following problem: empty bag places aren't empty bag places they are empty unknown and belongs to the category standard. Only the backpack and the original bank places belongs to the category empty bag.
but if i change the category manualy to empty bag all empty places belongs to empty bag even empty specialized bag places like the quiver. It isn't a big problem, but it is a little step on the way to perfection. ;-)

I LOVE your addon. Just one issue. I keep getting this message: "ArkInventory: ALERT! Bug fix complete. the FrameLevel for the Bag window is currently at 130 and has been reset to 2 to ensure that t remains functional. Sorry for the lag spike caused by the fix"
I copied it verbatim. Although sometimes the framelevel is different than 130. And it keeps doing this message every time i open the bag and then if i use something from the bag un til i either logout or /console reloadui.
Edit: als one other thing, sometimes when dragging the bag window it goes over my bars (CTMod) and clips it and locks my ui up for a solid 45 seconds. I timed it.

Works now, But problems with the settings of empty bag places. You can't put the empty bag places of mining bags to a different place as empty places of normal bags. Then ArkInventory puts them together to a row. Bugs with v2.27.04 on german client, my settings are gone etc. Switched back to v2.27.03 this works fine. Look at this comment from curse:

I Downloaded this latest version, but it didn't show up (even after I fooled around with the standby option) so I reverted to backups of the mod and it's saved vars, but still nothing... probably a stupid problem but help please.

dont think so, i didnt specifically add a limit in so it should be however big a string can be on your OS. you probably lost the changes you made to the rules because wow crashed instead of exiting cleanly.

I uninstalled Quartz shortly after my last post, I don't have the error for almost a week now. I can only suggest trying to disable some unnecessary addons if anybody encounters that memory error.
Anyway, can I have a feature request please: I understand it would become crowded, that's why you moved buttons to open the bank keyring etc. windows to a submenu. But I only used the "bank", "refresh" and sometimes the "keyring" buttons in that button bar, so after this change I can open the bank with two clicks instead of one. I think the best would be if one could select what buttons to show/hide there.

I think this is the best mod for bags management and I had no errors since today. I tried to specify specific rules for some items (i.e. "Old Tiers", "Trinkets and Fun", "Primals", etc.) but after a while I had the already cited memory error. Restarting WOW I could only have the old settings without the aforesaid secific rules. Is there a limit in the number of items which can be singularly attributed to specific rules?

about 1 - 2.5mib once you done the initial open (thats about a complete window refresh i think), i dont remember seeing a memory jump bigger than that so far.
note that i dont allocate memory in blocks, i just assign an empty table and then add records to it one by one. when i clean up tables the reverse happens, tree scan down and nil all keys and values.

I don't really think this is a memory usage problem, just as the error says, AI tries to allocate a memory block larger than WoW can provide. Maybie when other addons create too many garbage, too many gaps in the memory, there will be no solid free memory block for an enormous table that AI use.
Question is, what size is the largest solid memory block AI needs?

it's a mod that has a memory monitoring page, it does other stuff as well but the main thing is the monitoring because it doesnt use ace libraries so theres nothing in common to misreport the memory usage of ai.

These memory allocation errors only started after you changed the title bar and fixed other issues such as the bar category titles not refreshing properly, bag window not opening when you open guild bank and not being able to view guild bank tabs other than the first one even if you had full access.

sorry, i cant. if you dont believe me please disable all mods except ai, download optionhouse and only have that and ai running.
ai will only use around 20mib all up before a garbage collection will kick in and it'll drop back to 6-7mib, it only uses 1.5mib per item move (temporary memory allocation) and you can only move a certain amount of items before the wow garbage collection kicks in automatically.
i've never even seen this error on my test toon, nor on my normal toon (which has a reasonable amount of mods installed but not a lot).
the only way i can lower memory usage is to remove things, like new item indicators and other graphical elements.

That "memory allocation error: block size too big" is a HUGE issue for me. It happens daily several times a day and often causes the game to lock up and or crash. I'll go from a normal 93-130mb for addons to 170-230+mb and it's always after right-clicking items back n forth from bags to guild bank.
It really causes a lot of problems, anywhere from not being able to open other windows or addons, to not even being able to chat, sometimes it locks it so you can't even type in commands or hit enter to send msgs.
I have to control-alt-delete out of game often and where this becomes an issue is that all of my other addons that collect data or need to save changes don't get to do so because I didn't get to log out of game correctly. So all that data is lost and is never saved to harddrive.
One example is the addon QuestGuru. It saves a history of all quests completed. Sometimes I'll do like 8-20 quests per session and hit the bank afterwards to log out for a break or for the night. After going to the bank, when I am done and close out of inventory/guild bank WHAM it hit's me. And all those quests I did for that session are lost and never written to the disk because I didn't log out of game properly due to the memory allocation error causing the game to crash or lockup.
Please fix this. I know you think it's something else and not ArkInventory based on what you said on a different website but I am asking you to please spend time investigating this issue. This error only occurs after using ArkInventory and most often its after right-clicking items back and forth from bags to Guild Bank.
I love this addon but it is becoming a liability lately.

I got a problem, please help: Sometimes when I open an additional ArkInventory (usually the bank frame), I get spammed by an error frame saying "memory allocation error: block too big". Sometimes it is just sais exactly that and nothing else, sometimes adds that the error is in line AceEvent-2.0.lua:369. Whenever the error shows up, it stays (when I close the error dialog, it re-pops) until I reloadUI(), no matter if I close all ArkInventory windows, or even disable AI with "/arkinventory standby"
I don't really know how to reproduce, I just opened the bank frame now.
I've set up 21 bars in the backpack/bank frame, my custom rules use: equip(), id(), subtype(), outfit() (Outfitter is my outfit addon) and pt().

Was wondering if there is a way to make rule you could say...alphabetize your herbs... say like if you had one slot as a-e you could apply a rule so herbs that started w/ a could be put in that slot?

I was using each line as a different virtual bag
equip() and soulbound() would have just dumped them all in the same bag and not the 16 separate areas

One problem I had was the category titles not refreshing properly, you fixed that.
The second problem I had was when you open the guild bank it would not open your character inventory (bags) window. You fixed that too.
The third problem I had was even though all my characters had full access to all of the guild bank tabs, when I tried to view the guild bank offline it would only show me the contents of the first tab. This is now fixed too.
You also added a feature request I asked for which was to make the search window a "find as you type". Thank you so much for that one.
I am very pleased with this latest v2.27.03 version.
Thanks again for this awesome addon. I have 142 addons installed and this one is one of the FIVE must-haves I install first.

I really like this mod for organizing my items. However, with the last update, I can't get my bank to go online. When I go into a bank and click on the banker, it shows the bank as offline. I reset the data and the profile, and it still won't see the bank online. I can disable the bank to use the Blizzard bank, but I like having my auto-sorted items.
Also, is there a way to setup my bars at once, and have the settings apply to both my bags and my bank, so I don't have to go into edit mode on both?

it's part of the code to figure out what your skills are, but survival is a class skill so shouldnt even be apearing - and it's working fine on my hunter so i'm not sure whats going on.
there are two commented out lines in the SkillGet() function, if you could edit the lua file and remove the -- from in front of those and then let me know what it prints out when you load it might help to show why it's doing it.

I posted a message here a few days ago, you fixed one of the problems I was having about the titles refreshing, thanks.
You didn't make any mention of the other problem though, the one where opening the guild bank will NOT open your inventory bags also. Can you look into that please? I have the settings correct but my bags never open up when I open the guild bank and I would like it to do that.
As a side note, I sort my bags with your addon by assigning categories to different bars, and if an item still doesn't sort the way I would like it to, I change the default category for that item.
I don't know how to use "rules", do you have any documentation on how to create rules somewhere?
Thanks for all the work you've done on this addon, it is one of my 8 "must-haves"!

EDIT ADD: Any possibility you would consider tweaking your search function so that it becomes a "find-as-you-type" feature? I *USED* to use Sanity2 if you wish to look at the code, it had that. Skillet, an addon for tradeskills had it also, worked even better.

if I wanted to group item type gems into a single rule.. is there a way to do it, without going to each gem and applying the rule to it? - the debug info has them as Type: Gem, Subtype: Green (or whatever colour etc)
ie I what to be able to use the items Item Type and SubType fields to automatically group items in my bags.
This would also apply to armour.. since I want head slots, shoulders, chest, etc to be seperately grouped.

Hi.
I have been playing WoW for a little over two months now and this was the first "bag" addon I used and I love it. I have tried others just to see the differences offered but I always go back to this one.
Two things about this I wish to mention.
I always have to hit the refresh button after opening bags to get the correct title showing for each bar, for example when I first open a bag my quest items might show the title soulbound but after I hit refresh the titles correct themselves and then says quest items as the title. Is there anyway to get it to auto-refresh on opening so I don't have to do that extra click every time I open my bags?
Secondly, this has never worked for me since day one - When I open the guild bank it does NOT open my normal bag window from my character. I have checked and rechecked the settings -- I have the auto open/close check-marked for everything. It says when I open guild bank it will open my bags too but it never does. Can you look into it please?
One feature request, as seen in another addon -- do you ever plan on adding a search feature? My apologies if you explained this before here or elsewhere.

Have you checked that you are using individual profiles for each character? Also, to get more bars to appear do this:
1. Click the gold gearshift button to enter edit mode
2. In edit mode, select any item in that set of bags you are editing and in the place where you tell it what bar to move it to, move it to the highest bar listed. So first you move it to bar 10 for example, then when you go back you will see the number changed to a higher one, pick that one, then rinse repeat until you have as many bars as you want. I have had as many as 50+ bars at one time (no longer do now) but as the author stated you can have as many as you want.

Is this mod only meant to be set up on one character? Because I have set it up on more than one and the settings for the others overlap into the one I'm playing at the moment and make a thorough mess of my bag settings. Is this meant for one character only or am I having a bug here?
Also, it will not allow me to have more than 10 bars no matter what.
Otherwise, love it and hope this is something minor I can fix somehow because the layout is otherwise splendid!

I'm using 2.26d and still getting an error with only 1 of my characters, all the other characters seem to be fine. The char has 144 bank slots and 84 bag slots. Because of the error, my bank and bag slot information does not get updated. I have to close and reopen the bag or bank for them to be updated.
The error message is: line 2701, attempt to compare nil with number and occured in global.

First of all, i really love this addon, it's functionality is really great. There are two suggestions i had after using it for a while.
1.) It would be nice if i could set the scale of individual bars, so for example i could have tiny little boxes for my herb bag, but larger ones for my main inventory bag.
2.) it would be nice to have a stacking option that displays the sum total of an item. So if i had unstackable items, for example Soul Shards) i could choose to have them displayed as a stack to save screen space.

it's an issue with the way i classify items, to save space i only classify them once, so all junkboxes will match whichever one is scanned last before a refresh - not really sure how to change that without changing the entire way items are classified

I've used this mod for a while, and love it.
Today I got the 2.26D revision and it has started eating much more memory than normal. Now I know this was never a memory-lite addon, especially if you had a lot of characters, banks, guild banks, etc. But I was surprised to see my memory usage climbing and climbing when all AI windows were closed (as I expect the higher memory use when the windows are open). I suspended the addon and the memory usage climb halted. Upon resuming, it started to fly again.
So I thought maybe I had too much info stored and wiped all my characters' data (using the in-game command). Still climbs. Then I deleted the WTF folder AI entry. Still climbs. Any idea what could be causing this? It starts out at 4 or so MB when I log on, but quickly reaches 12MB (and I mean quickly, usually less than a minute), with only one character's data.

Small bug with custom filters. Have one setup for "tt(Locked)" so I can sort out which Heavy Junkboxes I have to open while leveling lockpicking. It sorted 4 of them (out of 9 I had on me) and didn't move them after I picked them.
