What is Black List?
Black List is a World of Warcraft addon that adds a new players list (called 'Black') to your Friends Tab on the Social Panel, near Friend List, Ignore List and Mute List.
You can store players level, class, race, and a reason for blacklisting them.
Black List automatically warns you (if you want) with sound and text if you encounter a player in List, and ignore him (if you want) rejecting whispers and party invites.
How I use it?
It's easy to add someone to your Black List! You can:
- right click con the Target frame and shift click on 'Add to BL' menu;
- click the 'Add Player' button on 'Black' tab in Friends Tab on the Social panel;
- type /blacklist (or /bl) into your chat box.
For the slash command, you may also specific the reason with the name, '/blacklist Name Reason'.
If you have someone targeted, Black List will add them and populate the details automatically. If you mouse over him, Black List automatically update information for that player.
'Ignore player' checkbox will toggle ignoring someone's communications (excluding BG chat) and party invites.
'Warn me' checkbox will toggle warning you with text if the player in list name appears with /who command or in Who tab in Social Panel, or you receive a whisper or a party invite from the person be in the same party as them; it also warns you with text and sound if you target them or mouse over them.
You can also edit their level, class, and race by clicking the 'Edit' button on the details popup or edit the reason by clicking on the textbox and typing.
To remove someone, click their name in the Black List and click the 'Remove Player' button or type /removeblacklist (or /removebl) Name into the chat box.
Why should I use it?
For people of the same faction, think about ninjas (for example people that need objects useless for them), or people that use blasphemies insted of commas, or who leaves a party without reason, or 'bad player', etc.
For people of the other faction, think about people attacking you while you're in combat, or camping you, or attacking you only when they have a lvl 70 friend near them, or '/rasp' and '/spit' you in neutral cities... do you need other examples? :)
Compared to Ignore List, Black List can be very useful because you can add a reason to a player, and it remembers the names and the 'why' about people for you. ;)

If there's a limit, it's choosen by Blizzard, I've put no limit on table.
The list carry over from player to player on the same account, but not on different PC, cause it's saved locally.

Would like to know how many can be on that blacklist?
50 like in blizzards Friends list / Ignore list
or are there no cap?
Also will this list carry over from player to player on my account?

The reason is never displayed to others because it's a private statement with personal way to manage comments. For example, I could put one in Black List cause he's "stupid" but if he asks me why (by mail for example) I could use different words like "not compatible with my thoughts" :D
Or I could manage the list with some numbers and words like the time he need to be killed or a note on how I could revenge what he has done to me or to my friends. So if this one whispers me and see what I want to do to him... could ruin all. :)

Great addon. 1 Feature which would be nice is that if a player /w you who is on your BL, it could block you from seeing it whilest sending your own personal reason to why you have added them to your list.
Eg. "You are on Cythis' Black list: Ninja looting in tempest keep"

The "Share" button is ready but not working cause it's a bit hard and long to implement now. I'll surely begin to work on it sharing one member at a time with one friend, but I don't have any ETA at the moment.
For tooltip option I've no idea about the complexity to create it. So I'll take a look at it in order to understand if it's an option that can be created in short time. Thanks for suggestions. :)

Very nice i really like your new tab for the socical panel great idea =). I got 2 requests for future reversions( and i hope there is =) ) first and an option for a tooltip warning so when you hover over them it says "Black listed - (reason)" or something like that i just find it handy to have but anyway my second request is to have a way to send the blacklists over a channel or another connection to people in a guild or just a friend you want to have know who you have blacklisted. thanks GJ again

Done :) There's a new option now that give the ability to automatically ignore a player in Black List when you add him in it.

Please for the love of all that is holy add to the options menu whether or not to automatically /ignore a person you /bl. I've had BAD harassment issues from an entire guild of 200+ members, and every day I have to /blacklist more, and I have to spend an extra 20 mins clicking through the names, finding those that were recently added to /ignore them.

New Options window! You can access at it by the button, now enabled, on Black List tab in the Social Panel!
It gives you the ability to check the below options when mouseover/target/whisper/party a character in your Black List:
Enable/Disable sound.
Enable/Disable text warning in the center of the screen.
Enable/Disable the reason of Black List that appears in General Chat.

The first is the same of this on.
The second is a similar addon but without integration in original UI, and kept updated by another author. :)

The integrating in default frames is not my job, but all the efforts go to the original author of the mod (you can see a link on curse.com). Unfortunately he seems to have abandoned this addon some weeks ago and I've taken care of updating it, fix some bugs and add new features. You can also see this mod history always in curse.com change log. :)

Not a problem at all Sbonk!
Love the mod man, really do. :)
*tips virtual hat*
I understand about the learning to write LUA and XML thing, I'm probably years away from where you're at now. LOL - endlessly learning things. :)
Another thought is just a tool tip with the information of the players class race etc when mouse overing the added name. Which ever is easiest to do.
In any case, the add-on rocks and your efforts with integrating it into the acutal friends frame is awesome! I wish more people would integrate things into the default frames, even if it's a button to open their add-on up. Makes like easier than having slash commands or multiple minimap buttons. Cheers again mate. :)

Uhm I'm glad to see comments like your. :)
Answers:
1. First of all I would like to create an option window, with the ability to remove sound warning and to change cooldown warning (actually is 10 seconds for players not in party and 30 minutes for players in your party)... other options to come. Unfortunately I'm learning to write in LUA and XML so it's not easy for me to create new windows and to manage/save/load options. :)
2. No
3. Yes
Suggestion 1:
Good ideas! Next version will surely have these changes. :)
Suggestion 2:
There are two ways of add or change details about a player: by hand and automatically. The "automatic" update happens when you mouse over a player in your Black List: the addon changes level/race/class according to the stat of that player.
I'll study how to add a second line in Main List ("Black"), like Friend List, with these informations... I'm hoping it will not be too difficult, like option window!
Thanks again for suggestions!

Great mod mate!
Questions:
1. Do the 'Share' and 'Options' button do anything yet?
2. Does this inform them that they have been added to a Black List? (hope not)
3. When warning: 'X is on Black List', does it only tell me? (hope so)
Suggestion 1:
-- -----------------------
function BlackList_addMenuButtons()
BlackList_removeMenuButtons();--clear for sure to not add 3x the same button
--First create new button
UnitPopupButtons["AddToBl"] = { text = "Black List", dist = 0 };
--Insert it to the end - 5; (before invite so we don't accidentally invite someone instead of inspecting)
table.insert(UnitPopupMenus["PLAYER"], getn(UnitPopupMenus["PLAYER"])-5, "AddToBl");
table.insert(UnitPopupMenus["PARTY"], getn(UnitPopupMenus["PARTY"])-5, "AddToBl");
table.insert(UnitPopupMenus["RAID_PLAYER"], getn(UnitPopupMenus["RAID_PLAYER"])-5, "AddToBl");
--refresh menu for target frame
UIDropDownMenu_Initialize(TargetFrameDropDown, TargetFrameDropDown_Initialize, "MENU");
-- BlackList.chatMsg("done");
end
-- ----------------------------
Two changes I made:
1 - The name itself: 'Black List' - No need for 'Add to', we know that already.
2 - Moved it up the drop down list to above 'Invite' and below 'Inspect'. Kind of acts as a safety click for me. Many times I click 'Invite' accidentally instead of 'Inspect'. This way, if I accidentally click the one below, I hit 'Black List' instead and can undo that. =D
Those are just two changes I made for my own use. =)
Suggestion 2:
If we do edit and add Level, Class, Race - Can the Main list update and reflect these changes?
So that 'Playername - Level - Class - Race' shows up on Main List if edited.
Just thoughts. As said, good mod. Will be using it. :)
