'Book of crafts' development is back on track after an 8 months leave. I have reactivated my Wow account.

Suggestions and bug reports are welcome



*** PURPOSE ***

BookOfCrafts (BoC) is a simple add-on which provide you with information
regarding your other characters crafts. With it activated, whenever you display
a recipe tooltips, it will list which character know this recipe already, which
character may learn it now and which character will be able to learn it later.

In case no character is concerned by this recipe, a simple message is displayed.


Some special notes :

- By default, currently played character is not displayed in lists, because top
of recipe text should inform you about 'known' state. However an option is
available to force current character listing

- When a recipe requires a craft specialisation, character should know this
specialisation to be listed. Knwing the base craft is not enough. For
instance, if your character knows 'Dragon scale leather crafting', it won't
be listed for a 'tribal leather working' recipe even though it is a leather
craft.

- Works with regular chat message hyperlinks, merchant, bank, bags tooltips.

However, if you work with add-ons which do not handle tooltips correctly,
through hook functions, BoC may be unable to display any information. So be
sure to check which add-on you have in use before blaming BoC ^_^



*** INSTALLATION ***

Install the Add-on in your Interface/Add-on directory, then open for each
character their Tradeskills/Craftskills list. By doing this, BookOfCrafts learns
which craft skills they know.



*** OPTIONS ***

You may access to options through 4 ways:

- with '/boc option' command (or '/BookOfCrafts option')
- A myAddOn button (my favorite way... if myAddon is installed)
- A binding key, through normal binding menu
- A cosmos button in Cosmos main panel (If Cosmos is installed... However
since the advent of Khaos, I can't promise this will work anymore)


Available options are :

- Same Faction: Search of characters is limited to same faction as currently
played one

- Show Skill Rank: If option is active, listed characters will show their
current craft skill level (for instance 'Lini (78)'. Otherwise, only the
name will be displayed)

- Tooltip color: choose your own color for BoC tooltip text

- Display miscellaneous informative chat messages (used for debug generally)

- Show also current character in lists.



*** COMPATIBILITIES ***

Information will be shown an any plan/manual/recipe in ...

- Auction House
- Merchants
- Inventory


This is compatible with

- AllInOneInventory
- BankItems
- CharacterViewer
- MyAddons
- MyBags
- MyInventory


Following add-ons show some incompatibilities (randon tooltip info display)

- MyBank (Part of Mybags add-on, however mybags is fully compatible)
- Auctioneer new auction windows.



*** DEPENDENCIES ***

There is no mandatory dependency. This is a standalone add-on

however, if you have Cosmos or myAddons installed, BookOfCrafts adds its own
menu to their interface.



*** NOTES ***

This add-on has been thoroughly tested in French only. It is provided with
Deutsch and English localization which I cannot test, so the quality of BoC
behavior in those 2 languages highly depends heavily on users feedback.

Also, if someone wants to provide Korean or German translation, he/she's
welcome :)



*** CREDITS ***

My big thanks to Ayradyss, maker of 'RecipeBook' addon. I've been a first user
of this add-on, but found myself in need of something different and I have
developped 'BookOfCrafts' (also at this time, RecipeBook development was
stopped). This is thanks to 'RecipeBook' that I started to get involved in
Add-on development.

However, there is no competition with 'Recipe book' and Ayradyss. Perhaps you
should check also this add-on as it is a great add-on that you might prefer for
its different features.

When you click in the chat window, on someone link to its craft listing, BoC considers that this is your character craft and register them.

On the long term, your character is considered then to know all crafts.

This is wrong, and I'm investigating on this

Absolutely awesome addon! Exactly what I've been looking for lately.
There are few bugs thou. Versions 3.0.3c&b don't show tooltip for recipes and ignore "Show Side Tooltip" setting for reagents, showing them on side tooltip all the time (recipes work fine).
Works fine with 3.0.0c, but "Show Side Tooltip" setting is still ignored (or it's meant to be that way?).
I use enGB client.
Also, imo, strings "Reagent for:", "Rank too high:", "May learn:" and "Already known:" shouldn't be displayed. The text color provides enough information.

To get rid of the OnLoad errors, open BookOfCrafts.xml and replace "OptionFrameBoxTemplate" with "OptionsBoxTemplate" four times.

I also get the Crafts:OnLoad error as Xylan and Lazlo, but unlike Xylan, I did not (and usually don't) delete the old folder or the SavedVariables file. Like akadhluekakjfa, I also lose right-click functionality in the chat window, it just acts as left-clicking instead. Otherwise works fine, but I'll have to disable it until the chat window thing is resolved.

I get the same errors as Xylan but it still works. Glad to see this get updated as I had, extremely reluctantly, just decided to find something else to fill the niche and wasn't finding it.

Now for my requests. :-)
1. I'd love it if it also tracked recipes in the mail.
2. If specialty recipes were perhaps denoted with an '*' or something along those lines rather than un-useful when you don't have a specialty yet.
3. I'm guessing you'll add support for inscription at some point.

If there's any info I can provide to help with my requests, please let me know.

Thanks for this great mod.

I am having a minor problem with it however. With this mod installed I can no longer get the "right-click" menu on player names in the chat window, which means I cannot "ignore" anyone that way and I cannot use blizzard's simple "report spam" feature.

I do not get any error message that I could see.

Glag to see this add on alive again. I downloaded the latest 3.00a Deleted the old folder and the SV file for this add on, installed it on english client. I then got these errors as seen by BugGrabber when I loogged in.

It is good to have Book of Crafts back. It has always been reliable. I've been using it since 1.7 and this is the first time I had to do without. Thanks for bringing it back!

Please correct the directory structure of the 3.0.0a zip file. If unzipped like other Addons, the files end up in the AddOns directory. And what is the meaning of the files in the BookOfCrafts fan directory?

It was sort of working for me under 3.02, but it had some issues that it caused with tooltips. Caused a green bar on every tooltip no matter what it was for, i.e. items, players, npcs. Also would cause comparison tooltips to remain on screen even after the window with the item that was being compared, was closed. On the other hand, it continued to show which recipes were learnable or had been learned by other toons.

Still working. Had a problem with a new version of BankItems. It would cause tooltips to not show at all in BankItems. I fixed this by editing the BookofCrafts.lua and, under the "Hooking to specific addons" section, commenting out (adding "--" to the front of each line) the BankItems section. No more problems with BankItems and the BoC tooltips show up too.

still works alright yeah.. but.. I experience at times that the sidebox gets "stuck" if having my mouse over an item used for a profession and hence me having to move the pointer over something else :)
